🚨The latest update regarding the sessions reopening is that the pool should be fixed and estimated to reopen end of April, beginining of May. 

🚨We are urgently looking to recruit Lifeguards for our swimming sessions. 

🚨Happy New Year and Opportunities: Happy New Year to you all! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and are feeling refreshed for the year ahead. We’re excited to welcome you back to our swimming sessions in 2025, although we are still awaiting confirmation from the school regarding the reopening date for the pool. As previously mentioned, they are in the process of fixing the heating issue.

Once we have the go-ahead to resume, we’ll be looking for volunteers to help run our sessions. If you, or anyone you know, would be interested in supporting us, we would love to hear from you.

Additionally, we are recruiting qualified lifeguards for our Saturday morning sessions. If you, or someone you know, is a qualified lifeguard and interested in working with us, please get in touch.

As always, there are many ways to support our charity, whether through sharing our social media posts, making a donation, or contributing via EasyFundraising. Your support means the world to us, and we rely on the generosity of our community to continue our work.

Pool Update: The latest update we have regarding the pool re-opening is that the expected date is now Spring 2025. We do not have an exact date confirmed as of yet, as soon as we do we will inform all our members. 

What we do?

SDSG is a swimming Group with a difference – our membership consists of individuals with long-term disabilities as well as those recovering from illness or injury, and of course, their families and friends. Supporting and helping those with a disability, health condition or long-term illness feel comfortable in the water.

Mission: 

To empower individuals with disabilities through swimming. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to be active and healthy, regardless of their abilities.

Swim fees

£2.50 per session for over 18’s. £1 for under 18’s (under 2’s are free) One carer per member is free should you require.

We have a qualified Aqua Fit instructor who runs a class every Saturday at 11.15, this is included in your swim fee cost and can be enjoyed by everyone.

We don’t offer any 1 to 1 swim lessons or help in the water, if you require help in the water you will need to swim with a carer, friend or family. They can swim for free under our new scheme.

If you are looking for children’s swimming lessons please get in touch with JKM Swim school – jkmswim@yahoo.co.uk they are happy to work with you to enable your child to start to get confident in the water. We have an Oxford Dipper Poolside Hoist and various swim aids and floats to assist in the water.

There are male and female changing room’s as well as a separate disabled changing room.

We are a registered charity ( 1129347) and cannot run our sessions without receiving funding through applying for grants and donations if you would like to donate you can do so through Wonderful Payments by clicking the DONATE NOW button or you can also donate and be in with a chance of winning by taking part in the Charnwood Community Lottery.
